West PMA KS 40-1 Universal PID Temperature Controller
The West PMA KS 40-1 is a 1/8 DIN industrial controller built to handle whichever control strategy a process actually needs, rather than locking the user into one mode. Its universal input and selectable 2-point, continuous PID, or 3-point stepping control make it equally at home on straightforward on-off heating duty or more demanding continuous process control, all from a single hardware platform.
How It Works
KS 40-1 accepts a universal input covering thermocouple, RTD, or DC linear mA/mV sensors, and adds external setpoint and heating current monitoring for supervisory integration. Up to three outputs can be configured as relay, logic, or linear mA/VDC to match the actuators on hand, and Modbus RS422/485 connectivity lets it report into a wider control system. Configuration and diagnostics run through the BluePort front interface and PMA/West BlueControl software, and a built-in maintenance manager with an error list helps catch developing issues before they become failures.
Key Features
- Universal input with external setpoint and heating current monitoring
- Selectable 2-point, continuous PID, or 3-point stepping control
- Up to 3 configurable outputs: relay, logic, or linear mA/VDC
- Modbus RS422/485 communications for supervisory integration
- BluePort interface with BlueControl configuration software
- Built-in maintenance manager and error list for proactive diagnostics
Applications
KS 40-1 suits industrial process and machine heating applications that need the flexibility to run on-off, PID, or stepping control from the same controller, including plastics processing, furnaces, and general industrial equipment where heating current monitoring adds an extra layer of process visibility.
