We had an enquiry from a customer working on a lift (elevator) installation who needed an encoder that could mount directly over a fairly large shaft, without needing a separate coupling, and still keep the overall footprint compact.
Hengstler’s ICURO RI76 is built for this. It is a through hollow shaft incremental encoder that takes shaft diameters from 15mm up to 42mm, while keeping the outer housing diameter to just 76mm. Installation is straightforward thanks to a clamping ring at the front or rear. It is rated for operating temperature up to 100°C, and comes with push-pull, push-pull complementary, or RS422 interface options, with CE and cULus approvals, and protection class up to IP40 or IP65. It is commonly used on motors, printing machines, and lifts.
From our experience, before we quote this, we would normally check the exact shaft diameter, the clamping ring orientation (front or rear) needed for your mounting space, and the interface/output type. Hope this helps.
