West PMA KS 42-1 Two Point Single Loop Temperature Controller
The West PMA KS 42-1 is a 1/4 DIN single loop controller from the KS series, sized up from its 1/8 DIN siblings for panels that call for a larger front-of-panel presence or additional wiring room behind it. Built around simple, dependable two-point (on/off) control as its core strategy, while still offering continuous PID and 3-point stepping when a process calls for it, it gives equipment builders one controller that can be configured to the exact control behavior a machine needs.
How It Works
KS 42-1 accepts a universal input covering thermocouple, RTD, or DC linear mA/mV sensors, with external setpoint and heating current monitoring for supervisory integration. Its up to three outputs can be configured as three relays, or two relays plus a universal output for solid-state relay drive or transmitter powering, giving flexibility in how heating, cooling, and alarm functions are wired. Modbus RS422/485 communications let it integrate into a larger control system, and its larger 1/4 DIN, 96 x 96mm case uses pin or screw terminals for straightforward field wiring.
Key Features
- Two-point (on/off) control as standard, with continuous PID and 3-point stepping also available
- Larger 1/4 DIN case for panels needing more front-of-panel presence
- Universal input with external setpoint and heating current monitoring
- Up to 3 configurable outputs: relay, logic, or linear mA/VDC
- Modbus RS422/485 communications
- IP65-rated front panel with pin or screw terminal wiring
Applications
KS 42-1 suits industrial heating applications where straightforward on-off control is the primary need but the flexibility to step up to PID or stepping control is valuable, particularly on panels where the larger 1/4 DIN format is preferred.
