Steam fiscal calculation using a DP mass flowmeter, single or stacked transmitter, needs mass flow and energy worked out correctly across water, saturated steam, and superheated steam. The Contrec 515 SC03 Steam Flow Computer is built for this, using the meter’s own mass span calibration.
It runs standard DP flow equations while accounting for the primary element’s own reference calibration conditions, and stacked DP inputs extend the measurement range while keeping low-flow precision. A useful feature in the SC03 is its ability to accept a Specific Enthalpy (initial energy) offset, which lets you adjust for a known starting enthalpy and get an accurate net energy balance rather than a gross figure.
Mass flow and thermodynamic properties are calculated per the IAPWS-IF97 Industrial Formulation, with dedicated logic for water, saturated steam, and superheated steam. In actual application, this unit usually sits out on process plant, so it comes in a weatherproof IP65 field-mounting enclosure.
