The Contrec 202Ai is the ATEX and IECEx certified version of the 202A Flow Rate Totalizer, built for installation in hazardous areas where an intrinsically safe instrument is a must. It works with any flowmeter that gives a 4-20mA output, including differential pressure devices, magnetic flowmeters, and vortex flowmeters, and draws its own operating power directly from that same 4-20mA loop, so there’s no separate power wiring to bring into the classified zone.
The unit is fully programmable for linear or square-law input, with span, cutoffs, and conversion factors all set from the keypad, and every setting plus the accumulated total is held in non-volatile memory. High and low alarms are available through optically isolated solid-state relay outputs, useful for tripping external annunciators without compromising the intrinsically safe loop. Since it’s certified under ATEX, IECEx, and CSA, the 202Ai gives plant engineers a drop-in flow display and alarm unit for hazardous-area installations without needing a separate barrier enclosure for the display itself.
