The Contrec 515 HC03 Heat Calculator measures the volume, mass, and energy content of fluids in heating and cooling systems, using a single or stacked differential pressure flowmeter with a mass span, plus temperature readings from the supply and return lines.
It calculates flow using standard DP equations, taking into account the actual conditions the flowmeter was calibrated under, so the numbers stay accurate as line conditions shift. For water, it works out mass flow and energy using the IAPWS Industrial Formulation (1997); for other fluids, it uses internal enthalpy and density tables.
In actual application, this covers most heating and cooling metering setups already built around a DP flowmeter, so it is a straightforward retrofit onto an existing orifice plate or similar element without changing the flow element itself.
