The Setra ASL is the most accurate transmitter in Setra’s AccuSense line for differential pressure measurement, built for jobs where standard accuracy transducers aren’t tight enough. It’s calibrated using the endpoint method rather than best-fit-straight-line, which gives it ±0.07% FS accuracy and better linearity than similarly priced transducers.
In actual application, the ASL uses a resonant variable capacitance sensor, linearized and temperature compensated by an electronic curve-fitting algorithm, which is what gets it to that higher measurement accuracy in demanding applications. It’s also built to take a beating: the sensor is laser welded, with positive and negative overpressure limiting devices that let it withstand up to 100 times overpressure at any pressure range.
From our experience, calibration and maintenance are genuinely quick on this one. The SecureCal calibration button lets a technician adjust zero and span with simple buttons and adjustment knobs, and it also lets you restore factory defaults if a calibration attempt goes wrong, rather than needing to send the unit back. It’s a good fit for filter pressure monitoring, leak detection systems, discharge pressure, medical instruments, parts integrity testing, and test bench work.
