The Contrec 250i is a loop powered Process Indicator that reads a 4-20mA signal from just about any transducer, pressure, temperature, level, or flow, and shows the scaled process value on a clear LCD display. Because it carries ATEX and IECEx certification, this is the one we quote when the reading needs to be shown right at the transducer, but the transducer itself sits in a classified hazardous area.
It runs entirely off the 4-20mA loop, so there’s no separate power wiring to plan for, which simplifies installation quite a bit in a hazardous zone where extra cabling is something you want to avoid. It also has four alarm relay outputs, high-high, high, low, and low-low, so it can trigger something else directly rather than just displaying a number. The 25-point non-linearity correction table is handy when the transducer’s raw signal doesn’t map in a straight line to the actual process value, for example on an irregular tank.
Before we quote this, we would normally check the zone classification of the installation, the transducer’s own hazardous area certificate, and whether the customer needs wall, pipe, or panel mounting. Since it’s loop powered, we would also confirm the 4-20mA loop has enough voltage headroom left after the transducer and any barrier or isolator in the circuit. Hope this helps.
