The Setra 231RS is a wet-to-wet differential pressure transducer with remote sensors, built for jobs where running copper impulse piping to a central transducer is expensive or just impractical. Instead of piping both pressure taps back to one body, the high and low side sensors connect directly at the point of measurement, so installation labour and material both come down.
In actual application, the two remote sensors run back to the electronics housing on armored cable, cable, or conduit runs of 10, 20, 30, 40 or 50 feet, so it suits long or awkward runs between measurement points. Ranges and outputs are field-selectable: voltage output of 0-5VDC, 0-10VDC or 1-5VDC, or 4-20mA current output, on 15-30VDC or 18-30VAC excitation. Accuracy is ±1.0% FS on the lower range codes (RS1-RS3) and ±2.0% FS on the higher range code (RS4) at constant temperature, with maximum line pressure from 50 up to 250 PSID depending on the range ordered. The housing is die-cast aluminum, powder coated, and NEMA 4 rated, with wetted parts compatible with 17-4 PH stainless steel. Proof pressure is 2x full scale, and burst pressure ranges from 8x to 15x full scale depending on the range code.
From our experience, this is the transducer to consider whenever a wet-to-wet differential reading is needed across a distance, like across a filter, pump, or valve, where running conventional impulse lines back to one instrument would be a hassle. Before we quote this, we would normally check the range code needed, output signal, cable length and cable type (armored, plain cable, or conduit), and whether a local LCD display is wanted.
