Natural gas and coke-oven gas custody transfer, using vortex or turbine flowmeters with an analogue output, needs gas density and compressibility corrected for the actual gas composition. The Contrec 515 GN12 Natural Gas Flow Computer is built for this, interfacing directly with analogue volume flowmeters.
It resolves gas compressibility and density using the SGERG method (AGA-8 Gross Characterization), across natural gas and coke-oven gas process lines. Stacked analogue flow inputs let it handle changing flow profiles, and non-linear correction maps the flowmeter’s actual behaviour rather than assuming a straight-line response.
In actual application, this unit usually sits out on process plant rather than in a control room, so it comes in a weatherproof IP65 housing with a backlit alphanumeric LCD. It also has an adjustable 8-24V DC sensor excitation supply, isolated 4-20mA loop retransmission, and dual RS-232/RS-485 Modbus RTU ports for integration into plant automation networks.
