The Setra Model 290 is a sanitary pressure transducer, built for gauge and compound pressure measurement in hygienic process applications. Unlike oil-filled transducers, it’s made of stainless steel and doesn’t rely on internal liquid media, so there’s no fill fluid to worry about contaminating a food, dairy, or pharma process if the diaphragm is ever compromised.
In actual application, the 290 is specifically designed to eliminate clamping effects, the kind of installation-induced error you get from tightening a Tri-Clover fitting, which makes it faster and easier to install and maintain than comparable sanitary transducers. It comes with 1.5 or 2-inch Tri-Clover connectors, holds ±0.2% FS accuracy, and carries 3A certification.
From our experience, this is the right choice anywhere the line gets cleaned or sterilized in place. It’s built to handle CIP/SIP conditions and isn’t susceptible to thermal shock, so repeated cleaning cycles don’t degrade its accuracy over time. It shows up most often in food processing, dairy and beverage lines, pharmaceutical processing, level control, and general sanitary pipeline work.
