The Contrec 515 SC04 is a reliable chemical injection control system designed to measure the volume, mass, and energy content of steam. It uses single or stacked differential pressure flow inputs along with temperature and/or pressure inputs for accurate readings.
This versatile device offers various modes, making it ideal for many steam applications. It calculates flow based on the equations for ISO 5167 or V-Cone meters, effectively accounting for thermal expansion effects.
The energy calculations utilize the IAPWS Industrial Formulation (1997), which provides the thermodynamic properties of steam. By using pressure and temperature values, the system determines specific volume and enthalpy. Additionally, it calculates the isentropic exponent and absolute viscosity, which are essential for accurate differential flow rate calculations.
CALCULATIONS
The steam energy calculations are based on the IAPWS Industrial Formulation (1997).
For superheated steam regions, the parameters are:
- 0°C < t < 800°C, P < 100MPa
32°F < t < 1472°F, P < 14500psia - 800°C < t < 2000°C, P < 10MPa
1472°F < t < 3632°F, P < 1450psia
For saturated steam regions, the conditions are:
- 0°C < t < 374°C (critical temperature)
32°F < t < 705°F - P < 22MPa (critical pressure)
P < 3190psia
In the water region, the parameters are:
- 0°C < t < t saturation at system pressure
32°F < t < t saturation at system pressure
Formulas
Volume flow = Mass flow x Specific volume
Energy flow = Mass flow x Specific enthalpy
