We had an enquiry from a customer maintaining an older servo drive system who needed a replacement brushless resolver, part number referencing the Hengstler BRCX series. Sounds straightforward, but this is actually one of the trickier requests we get.
This looks simple, but the BRCX series does not appear on Hengstler’s current product website anymore, and we could not find a live, current datasheet for it either. That doesn’t mean it’s fake or unavailable – Hengstler (part of the Dynapar/Harowe family of resolver brands) has reorganised its resolver lineup a few times over the years, and older series like this sometimes get folded into a newer part number or replaced by an equivalent from the current Housed or Frameless resolver ranges.
In actual application, our own records describe the BRCX as a brushless resolver used for rotor position feedback in brushless motors, robots and direct drives, built for harsh environments – high operating temperature, resistance to process liquids and contamination, and good shock/vibration tolerance. However, we are not confident enough in the exact temperature rating and other figures on file to publish them as verified specifications, since we’ve seen similar old figures on other Hengstler resolver pages turn out to be inaccurate once checked against the current datasheet.
From our experience, before we quote this, we would normally check the exact application (motor type, mounting, shaft size, connector/cable) and confirm with Hengstler/Dynapar directly whether the BRCX is still an active part number or whether there is a current equivalent (such as the R25 or R56 series) that we should quote instead. Hope this helps.
