The Contrec 515 GN16 is a reliable application for measuring the volume, mass, and total heat content of natural gas. This advanced instrument utilizes single or stacked differential pressure volumetric flow measurements along with analog temperature and pressure sensor inputs.

It calculates the gas flow using standard differential pressure equations and takes into account the specific conditions under which the flowmeter was calibrated.

For precise flow calculations, the SGERG calculation method (AGA-8 Detail Characterization Method) is employed to determine accurate values for density and compressibility factors.

CALCULATIONS

The calculations for gas density and compressibility factors are based on the SGERG (AGA-8 Gross) equations. These calculations are applicable within the following conditions:

-8°C < t < 62°C, P < 12MPa

17°F < t < 143°F, P < 1740psia

FORMULAS

Mflow = volume flow • ρflow

Corrected flow = Mflow / ρ ref

Heat flow = Mflow • Hm

Where:

Mflow = mass flow

ρflow = density at flow conditions

ρ ref = density at reference conditions

Hm = mass gross heating value
