The Contrec 515 FP01 is a reliable application for measuring the flow and consumption of petroleum fluids. This advanced two-channel frequency flow input allows the device to accurately calculate the “delta” net volume used by any consuming device.
Each channel features an analog temperature input, which enables volume correction to standard reference conditions. Typically, the feed flow should exceed the return flow; if negative flow is detected, an exception will be triggered.
This instrument is versatile and can measure a variety of crude and refined petroleum fluids, including gasoline, jet fuels, heating oils, diesel, lube oils, and liquefied petroleum gases (LPG).
CALCULATIONS
The total volume and flow rate are calculated from precisely measured frequency and the number of pulses received.
Volume = pulses / k-factor
Volume flow = frequency / k-factor
Consumption volume = feed – return
Volume correction calculations adhere to the ASTM D1250-04 and API Table 54 standards for the following products:
- Crude Oils
- Lube Oils
- Refined Products
- Light Hydrocarbon Liquids (LPG)
For other fluids, volume correction can be calculated using:
- General Coefficient of Expansion
- Reprogrammed User Table
