Gas plants running vortex or turbine flowmeters with an analogue output still need the reading corrected for real gas behaviour, not just a linear flow-to-volume conversion. The Contrec 515 GC02 Ideal Gas Flow Computer is built for this, interfacing directly with analogue volume flowmeters.
It resolves gas compressibility and actual gas quantity in real time using standard equations of state, for vapour and non-liquefied gas lines. Stacked analogue flow inputs let it handle changing flow profiles, and multi-point non-linear correction maps the flowmeter’s actual behaviour rather than assuming a straight-line response.
In actual application, this unit usually sits out on process plant rather than in a control room, so it comes in a weatherproof IP65 housing with a backlit alphanumeric LCD. It also has an adjustable 8-24V DC sensor excitation supply, isolated 4-20mA loop retransmission, and dual RS-232/RS-485 Modbus RTU ports for integration into plant automation networks.
Before we quote this, we would normally check your flowmeter’s analogue output signal, your gas composition, and your line pressure and temperature.
Hope this helps.
